Catalyst Concept & Blogs

We are about to share a series of posts over the next few months called “Catalyst Concepts”.

We will introduce you to some of our principles and treatment ideas we use in clinic.

We strive to be evidence informed over evidence based.

Here’s a quick summary of the difference between the two:

Evidence Informed Practice:
- Integrates or blends a variety of research and theory.
- Uses evidence-based interventions
- Uses Practitioner Expertise
- Considers client needs, circumstances, characteristic, preferences, and resources.
- Flexible and adaptable.

Evidence Based Practice:
- Uses evidence-based interventions.
- Uses practitioner experience.
- Considers client needs, circumstances, characteristics, preferences, and resources.
- Rigid and firm.

FULL DISCLOSURE, many of our principles, topics and conversations will be things we’ve learned from others. We may have adapted a few of these concepts to suit our clientele, practitioner needs, and clinic set-up. We will try our best to acknowledge any individuals or institutes that have given or shared these ideas with us. Some honourable mentions:

- Bahram Jam at APTEI
- Erson P Religioso III at Modern Manual Therapy
- Dr. Mikel Hoff at ANF Academy
- Gray Cook at FMS
- Michael Sangster at Think Health Care.
- Dr. Gabrielle Lyon
- Dr. Jordan Shallow at Prescript
- Kassem Hanson at N1 Education & Training.
- Doug McGuff at Ultimate Exercise
- Ken Hutchins at The Renaissances of Exercise.
- Edo Zylstra and the team at Evidence in Motion responsible for Functional Dry Needling.
- Mike Reinolds
- The Foot Collective
- Jason Plotsky at Nova Spinal Care

As with everything in health care the current evidence and best practice is always evolving.
Although some posts may come off as black or white, please remember there is lots of grey. Meaning as the research changes so may our position or advise on certain concepts.

We will do our best to keep up with current thinking and evidence and modify posts or present any changes in our thinking.

Please remember, this is general information for educational and entertainment purposes.
